Calligraphy Classes
We offer both online and face-to-face ( in-person ) classes. We have classes for beginners, advanced students, and open levels to accommodate the different levels of each participant.
Classes include correct posture, the basics of teaching calligraphy, and the significance and explanation of each tool. The class teaches how to write the three basic styles of kanji (block, line, and cursive scripts) using a brush, as well as the old styles such as clerical script and tensho, from the basics to their applications. Students will also practice writing and creating haiku and waka poems, including the basics of kana and variant forms of kana, as well as working on creative works.
Some of the works created during the course will be displayed in the exhibition space in the Japan ・ Society and will be introduced to the general public. Each tool is loaned free of charge by the Language Center. We hope that more people will learn calligraphy under the motto "Calligraphy is from the heart, and beautiful calligraphy is from a beautiful heart.
